Fayette, Mo. — The Central Methodist men's basketball team earned a home victory over William Woods by a final score of 79-68 Wednesday night inside Puckett Field House.
Central improves to 11-5 and 5-3 in the Heart of America, while the Owls drop to 5-12 and 2-7 in conference action.
The Eagles were led by another standout performance from Isaiah Reams, who poured in a game-high 33 points in a full 40-minute effort.
Reams was highly efficient, shooting 10-of-15 from the field and knocking down 11-of-13 free throws. He also contributed six rebounds and dished out six assists. The 33 point effort marks Reams' third 30-plus performance of the year.
Raphael Gay added 15 points on seven-of-10 shooting and pulled down seven rebounds. Tyson Oghene finished with 13 points, connecting on three triples and going four-of-six at the free-throw line.
Thomas Sowoolu provided a spark off the bench with six points on a perfect three-of-three shooting paired with three rebounds.
As a team, Central shot 49.1 percent from the field and held a decisive advantage at the free-throw line, converting 17-of-29 attempts compared to William Woods' single free-throw attempt.
The Eagles also won the battle of the boards, 34–29 and forced 16 turnovers, resulting in 21 points.
Defensively, CMU was active in the passing lanes, recording 10 steals, led by Isaiah Bonaparte with four. Austin Prater anchored the interior defense with three blocks.
Central heads back out on the road for a tough matchup against first-place Graceland Saturday, Jan. 10 at 4:00 p.m. in Lamoni, Iowa.
