Springfield, Mo. - The Central Methodist Men's Basketball team earned a hard-fought 91–84 victory over Mission University Saturday afternoon in Springfield, Mo.
With the win, the Eagles improve to 8-4 overall, while MU drops to 3-8.
Central was powered by a dominant performance from senior forward Raphael Gay, who delivered a game-high 28 points and 16 rebounds. Additionally, he went 11-for-14 from the floor while adding two assists, two blocks, and a steal.
The Eagles controlled the paint from the opening tip, out-rebounding Mission 41–35 and shooting an efficient 49.2 percent from the field.
CMU's backcourt provided steady scoring as well. Tyson Oghene knocked down four three-pointers on his way to 21 points.
Isaiah Reams attacked the rim all night, finishing with 13 points, five rebounds, and two assists while going seven-of-nine at the free-throw line.
Starters Tommie Williams and Davion Guity chipped in eight points apiece, with Guity connecting on two shots from deep.
Off the bench, Isaiah Bonaparte sparked the Eagles with seven points, two assists, and two steals, while Kevin James added six points and two steals in 16 minutes.
Mission hit 12 threes to stay within reach but was ultimately undone by 17 turnovers and CMU's physical interior play.
Central returns to Heart action with a road trip to Dubuque, Iowa to take on Clarke University Saturday, Dec. 13 at 2:00 p.m.
