Canton, Mo. - The Central Methodist Men's basketball team capped off their two-game road trip with a dominant 29-point victory over Culver-Stockton Wednesday night in Canton, Mo.
With the win, Central improves to 9-7 and 6-6 in the Heart, while Culver falls to 3-12 and 3-8 in conference action.
Both teams started the game off on the right note, trading baskets in the opening minutes.
With less than 13 minutes left in the first half, the Eagles began pulling away, leading by as may as eight points. Reigning Heart Offensive Player of the Week, Bol Tong, burried a three-pointer to put CMU up by double digits, 22-11.
Tong followed with a poster dunk before Destin Jenkins knocked down a three pointer to put the finishing touches on a 13-point run for Central.
The Eagles' offense continued to soar in the final 10 minutes of the half, holding a 45-20 lead at the break.
Tong led all shooters with 15 points in as many minutes, going six-of-nine from the floor and three-of-five from beyond the arc.
CMU carried their first half momentum into the second, taking advantage of missed free throws by the Wildcats in the opening minutes.
Central's biggest lead of the game came with 6:19 remaining after another highlight reel dunk by Tong put his team up 69-33.
Super senior Marcus Anthony had an impressive second half, leading both teams with 14 points and adding in a steal to his resume as well. He would ultimately finish the night with 19 points.
Tong finished the evening with 17 points and six rebounds while Jenkins tallied 16 points, seven rebounds, two assists and a block.
CMU shot 49 percent from the floor which included 41.9 percent from three.
The Eagles will look to increase their winning streak to three games on Saturday, Jan. 11, as they head back home to take on the William Penn Statesmen.
