Des Moines, Iowa - The Central Methodist Men's Basketball team bounced back with a 90-83 victory over Grand View University Saturday night in Des Moines, Iowa.
With the win, Central improves to 5-3 and 2-2 in conference action. The Vikings fall to 2-5 and 0-3 in the Heart of America.
The Eagles set the tone early in the first half, shooting 61 percent from the field and 46 percent from behind the arc. Destin Jenkins led the charge with 14 first-half points while Brandon Tchouya was right behind him with 12.
Defensively, Central was just as strong, forcing five turnovers and four steals in the opening 20 minutes, helping CMU take an 11-point lead at the halftime break.
The Vikings kept pace with Central in the second half, outscoring the Eagles 41-37. Grand View got back into the game thanks to an excellent performance from Jackson Green, who finished the night with 33 points including 21 from three.
However, CMU would hold on for a seven-point win.
Jenkins led the Eagles with 21 points while also adding three rebounds, two assists, and a block. The duo of Bol Tong and Tchouya each chipped in 18 points. Tong added eight rebounds, two assists, and two blocks, while Tchouya tallied seven rebounds, a team-leading four steals and two assists.
Marcus Anthony rounded out the double-digit scorers with 13 points, in addition to three rebounds, two assists, and two steals.
Central shot 55.4 percent from the floor, and 85.7 percent from the charity stripe.
The Eagles held a slight advantage on the glass, outrebounding the Vikings, 32-29.
Central will return to Puckett Fieldhouse on Tuesday, Nov. 26 to take on Missouri Valley. Tip-off is set for 7:30 p.m.
