Shooting Struggles Plague Central in Road Defeat to Ravens

Shooting Struggles Plague Central in Road Defeat to Ravens

Atchison, Kan. - The Central Methodist Men's Basketball team saw its seven game winning streak come to an end with a 66-47 defeat to Benedictine College Wednesday night in Atchison, Kansas.

The Eagles fall to 16-3 and 12-3 in the Heart of America, while Benedictine improves to 6-12 and 5-10 in conference play.

Central found themselves trailing Benedictine by only three at the halftime break, 28-25. But an unusal shooting slump resulted in the Eagles scoring only 22 points in the second half and being handed just their second double digit loss of the year.

The Eagles shot 31.1 percent from the floor and 15.4 percent from beyond the arc. BC converted on 44.4 percent of their shots from the field and 76.5 percent from the charity stripe.

Central outrebounded Benedictine, 43-34, but committed 16 turnovers.

Three Eagles landed in double figures, with Peter Turay leading the way with 13 points and 13 rebounds to secure a double-double. Isaiah May joined Turay in the double double club with 11 points and 11 rebounds.

TreVon Smith rounded out the double digit scorers with 10 points.

Central returns home to host Grand View Saturday, Jan. 27 at 4:00 p.m. inside of Puckett Field House as part of Hall of Fame weekend.
