Offense Prevails in Eagles' Win over William Penn

Oskaloosa, Iowa - The Central Methodist Men's basketball team picked up its fourth-straight victory with a 105-91 victory over William Penn Wednesday night in Oskaloosa, Iowa. 

Central improves to 13-2 and 9-2 in the Heart of America, while the Statesmen fall to 4-11 and 3-8 in conference play. 

The 105 points scored are the second most by the Eagles this season, and the second 100 point game in the the last four games. In addition, CMU has scored at least 90 points in seven of its last eight games dating back to late November. 

Four of Central's five starters reached double figures including two Eagles scoring 20 plus. Trey Sinegal led the way with 25 points which included five threes. He also added five rebounds, an assist, and a steal. 

TreVon Smith was right behind with 24 points, with 20 of those points coming in the first half. He finished the game with 12 rebounds to secure a double-double. 

Everett Stubblefield tallied 17 points, three rebounds, and three assists. Peter Turay finished the game with 11 points, seven rebounds, two steals, and two blocks. 

The Eagles did their damage from long range, knocking down 14 three-point baskets including five from Sinegal and three from both Stubblefield and Smith. 

WPU held a slight advantage on the glass, grabbing 50 rebounds compared to 49 for Central. 

The Eagles are currently in a three-way tie for second place in the Heart regular season standings. Central will next host Mount Mercy University Saturday, Jan. 13 at 4:00 p.m. inside Puckett Field House.
