Big Second Half Lifts Central Past Park

Big Second Half Lifts Central Past Park

Fayette, Mo. - The Central Methodist Men's Basketball team used a 55-point second half to overcome an early defecit, defeating Park University 96-85 Saturday night inside Puckett Field House.

The Eagles improve to 12-2 overall and 8-2 in the Heart of America, while Park falls to 6-8 and 4-6 in conference action.

Five Eagles reached double digit scoring, including four in the starting five. Everett Stubblefield led all scorers with 25 points on nine-of-17 shooting from the floor. It marks the junior guard's third 20-plus scoring performance this year.

TreVon Smith finished the evening with a double double, recording 21 points and collecting 11 rebounds. He also dished out four assists and picked up a steal.

Isaiah May also recorded a double double with 16 points and 11 rebounds. Trey Sinegal led the sharpshooters, knocking down four three-point baskets to finish with 16 points. In addition, Sinegal grabbed seven rebounds and picked up two steals and an assist.

Isaiah Williams rounded out the double digit scorers for CMU, tallying 12 in just 11 minutes of action.

It was an offensive slugfest from start to finish, as both teams shot over 50 percent from the floor. CMU held a slight shooting advantage at 52.1 percent compared to an even 50 percent for Park.

The Eagles knocked down 10 threes. Park struggled from the charity stripe, converting just six free throw attempts in 14 trips. CMU outrebounded the Pirates by double digits, 47-35.

Central heads out on the road to face William Penn University Wednesday, Jan. 10 at 7:30 p.m. in Oskaloosa, Iowa.
