Central Cruises Past Benedictine Wednesday Night

Fayette, Mo. - The Central Methodist Men's Basketball team cruised past Benedictine College 90-58 Wednesday night inside Puckett Field House. 

Central improves to 7-1 and 3-1 in the Heart of America, while the Ravens fall to 2-5 and 1-3 in conference action. 

The Eagles outscored Benedictine 44-20 in the first half, and surpassed their first half total with 46 points in the second to secure a 32-point victory. 

Four players for Central landed in double figures, including three in the starting lineup. TreVon Smith led the way with 26 points highlighted by seven-of-10 shooting from beyond the arc. 

Everett Stubblefield followed with 12 points and nine rebounds to nearly earn a double-double. The junior guard also added six assists and a steal in 26 minutes. 

Isaiah May nearly recorded a double-double with 10 points and nine rebounds in addition to three steals, two assists, and a block. 

Charlie Bronakowski scored 10 points in 13 minutes off the bench while Peter Turay scored nine points paired with nine rebounds. Marcus Anthony also scored nine points. 

The Eagles did their damage from downtown, converting on 41.1-percent of their three-point makes. In addition, Central knocked down 14-of-17 attempts from the free throw line. 

Central dominated on the glass, grabbing 51 rebounds compared to 30 for the Ravens. 

CMU will remain at home to host Peru State College Saturday, Dec. 2 at 4:00 p.m. inside Puckett Field House.
