Eagles close season in National Championship Opening Round

Waxahachie, Texas - The Central Methodist men's basketball team saw its season come to an end in the first game of the NAIA National Championship Opening Round Friday night in Waxahachie, Texas.

The Eagles fell to host school Southwestern Assemblies of God University, 82-61, finishing the year with a 22-11 overall record.

Four of Central's five starters landed in double-figures, led by the duo of Isaiah May and Jonathan Brown, who each tallied 15 points. Senior forward Fode Camara recorded a double-double with 14 points and 12 rebounds in his final game in an Eagle uniform.

Trent Lyles rounded out the double-digit scorers with 11 points in addition to five rebounds, four steals, and three assists.

Central finished the evening shooting four-of-six from beyond the arc, with two of those baskets coming from Brown. CMU ran into a hot shooting Lions team which knocked down 13 three-point baskets for 43.3-percent. Overall, SAGU converted on 50-percent of their shots from the floor compared to 38.8-percent for CMU.

The Eagles just edged SAGU on the boards, 38-37.
