Fayette, Mo. - The (RV) Central Methodist men's basketball team claimed a key South Division matchup over MidAmerica Nazarene University, 71-54 Wednesday night inside Puckett Field House.
With the win, the Eagles improve to 20-9 and 11-7 in conference play, while the Pioneers fall to 15-13 and 10-8 in the Heart.
CMU's offense had control of the game from start to finish, holding a seven point lead at the halftime break. Central outsocred MNU by 10 in the second half to earn a decisive 17-point victory.
Sophomore guard Jonathan Brown recorded his second-straight 20-point performance, scoring 25 points on eight-of-11 shooting from the field including three three-point baskets. The native of London, England also tallied five rebounds, two assists, and a steal in all 40 minutes of action.
Fode Camara had another solid outing for the Green and Black, as the senior recorded 18 points along with a game-high seven rebounds. Isaiah May was the final Eagle to land in double figures, as he scored 13 points including nine points from beyond the arc. He also knocked down all six of his free throw attempts.
The Eagles dominated the glass, outrebounding MidAmerica Nazarene, 43-24. Both Tim Cameron and Camara led the efforts on the glass with seven rebounds apiece. Trent Lyles and May each added six rebounds, followed by Brown with five.
CMU excelled in all three areas of shooting, firing off 49.1-percent from the floor, 42.1-percent from three, and 90-percent from the free throw line.
Central will next host Missouri Valley College Saturday, Feb. 19 at 4:00 p.m. inside Puckett Field House. The Eagles will recongize their 2021-22 senior class prior to tip-off.
