Springfield, Mo. - The (RV) Central Methodist men's basketball program saw its three-game winning streak come to an end against Evangel, 62-56 Wednesday night in Springfield, Mo.
With the defeat, Central falls to 18-9 and 9-7 in conference play. The Eagles are now in a tie for second place in the South Division standings with MidAmerica Nazarene. Both teams are now two games behind Evangel for the top spot.
The Eagles had control in the first half of play, and entered the locker room with a 34-25 advantage. Central maintained a lead through the first 13 minutes of play of the second, before the Valor closed the game on a 14-6 scoring run to earn the six point victory.
Marcus Anthony led the Eagles' offense with 16 points in 24 minutes off the bench. Nine of his 16 points came from the charity stripe, converting 90-percent from the free throw line.
Trent Lyles was the only other Eagle to land in double figures, as the sophomore guard tallied 10 points on 50-percent shooting from the floor.
Senior forward Fode Camara, finished the evening with eight points and six rebounds while Jonathan Brown added seven.
Overall, Evangel recorded a 43.6 shooting percentage from the floor compared to just 34.5-percent for CMU.
Central will next host Park University Saturday, Feb. 12 at 4:00 p.m. inside Puckett Field House.
