Baldwin City, Kan. - Behind five double-digit scoring performances, the No. 20 Central Methodist men's basketball program bounced back with an 86-55 road victory over Baker Wednesday night in Baldwin City, Kan.
Central improves its overall record to 13-4 including a 4-2 mark in conference play. The Wildcats fall to 6-7 and 2-3 in the Heart.
The Eagles held a seven point lead at halftime, before outscoring Baker 53-29 in the second half to earn a 31-point victory.
Central's offense was led by the duo of Jonathan Brown and Thomas Sowoolu, who eached poured in 20 points. Sowoolu, who tallied a new career-high in points, shot a perfect eight-of-eight from the field and four-of-five from the charity stripe. He also grabbed a game-best 12 rebounds to complete a double-double performance.
Tim Cameron tallied 18 points on nine-of-11 shooting from the floor, along with six steals, six rebounds, six assists and one block. Fode Camara added 10 points, in addition to seven boards, four assists and three steals. He also recorded a season-high four blocks in the victory.
Marcus Anthony made his first appearance of the year in 11 minutes off the bench. The freshman guard matched Camara with 10 points, shooting 66-percent from the floor.
Overall, Central was extremely efficient from the field, converting on 60.3-percent of its attempts. In addition, the Eagles nearly doubled up Baker on the glass, grabbing 38 rebounds compared to BU's 20. CMU also converted 29 points off of turnovers.
The Eagles return home to host Culver-Stockton College Saturday, Jan. 8 at 4:00 p.m. inside Puckett Field House.
Saturday's basketball doubleheader is also Howard County Family and Friends Day, in which all residents of Howard County will receive free admission.
