Kansas City, Mo. - After a stellar week of play, Central Methodist men's basketball sophomore guard Jonathan Brown was named this week's Heart Men's Basketball Player of the Week, which was announced by the conference office Monday.
Brown, a 6-3 guard from London, England, averaged 23.5 points/game including a career-high 35 in a 79-73 upset win over No. 3 nationally ranked William Penn last Wednesday. Against the Statesmen, Brown converted 10-of-21 shots from the floor and shot an impressive 85.7-percent from the charity stripe. He also grabbed eight rebounds, dished out four assists, and recorded a steal in the victory.
Against Missouri Valley Saturday, Brown chipped in 12 points and dished out a team-high six assists in the seven-point victory. For the season, he is averaging a team-leading 18.8 points/game.
Brown and the Eagles are off to an 11-2 start in 2021-22, which includes a 3-1 record through their first four games of conference play.
Central is next set to face Rochester in a non-conference contest Friday, Dec. 17 at 5:00 p.m. in Livonia, Mich.
