Men's Basketball Earns Gutsy Road Win over Clarke

DUBUQUE, Iowa — The Central Methodist men's basketball team got back in the win column with a tightly-contested 59-54 triumph over Clarke on Wednesday night.

In the first start of his career, Trae Meny (FR/Columbia, Mo.) led the Eagles with four three-pointers, pacing a Central Methodist attack that went 11-of-24 from beyond the arc.

Isaiah Thurmond (SR/Alton, Ill.) and Josh Robinson (JR/Normal, Ill.) matched Meny's career-high of 12 points as the trio led the Eagles in scoring. Christian Soderholm (JR/Peru, Ill.) chipped in with 10 points to round out the double-digit scorers.

Robinson notched eight assists, while Cameron Tutt (SR/Owensboro, Ky.) grabbed nine rebounds. Isiah Sykes (JR/Holt Summit, Mo.) came off the bench and pilfered three steals to jump start an Eagle defense that held the Pride to 38.5% shooting from the field.

Central Methodist (13-11, 8-10 Heart) led at the intermission, 34-26, and held on to a narrow lead the rest of the way to secure a much-needed conference victory.

The Eagles have a week off before returning to action on Wednesday, Feb. 13 against William Penn in Puckett Field House. The night will feature a slew of events, including Blow Pop Night, Greek Night, and Faculty/Staff Appreciation Night.
