LAMONI, Iowa — A tough stretch of the season continued for the Central Methodist men's basketball team Saturday afternoon, as the Eagles dropped their sixth straight contest in a low-scoring affair against Graceland, 63-57.
Central Methodist trailed by one at halftime, and had a chance to tie with a two-point attempt with just over a minute to play in the game. The shot didn't fall, and the Eagles couldn't claw any closer.
Isaiah Thurmond (SR/Alton, Ill.) led the Eagles with 16 points, followed by Isiah Sykes (JR/Holt Summit, Mo.) with 12 points. Sykes also snagged two steals. Jordan Ankrom (SR/Farmington, Mo.) picked up eight points off the bench.
Christian Soderholm (JR/Peru, Ill.) picked up a team-high 12 rebounds, while Josh Robinson (JR/Normal, Ill.) led the Eagles with four assists.
Central Methodist 36.5% from the field and 27% from three, while only getting to the free-throw line eight times on the afternoon.
Next up for Central Methodist is a road matchup against Clarke on Wednesday night. Tip-off is set for 5:30 pm in Dubuque, Iowa.
