FAYETTE, Mo. – Josh Robinson (JR/Normal, Ill.)'s layup with 0.7 seconds remaining secured a 92-90 victory for the (RV) Central Methodist University men's basketball team over Missouri Valley College in a back-and-forth contest on Saturday afternoon.
The Eagles (10-5, 5-4 Heart) had to battle for the win in a game that saw 12 ties and 21 lead changes. Central Methodist trailed in the final 90 seconds of play before a three-pointer by Isiah Sykes tied things up at 90-90. The game looked headed for overtime after a missed CMU free throw and missed layups on both ends, but a steal and conversion by Robinson secured the game in regulation.
Central Methodist showcased five athletes finishing in double figures, led by Isaiah Thurmond (SR/Alton, Ill.) with 22 points. Cameron Tutt (SR/Owensboro, Ky.) followed with a double-double effort of 16 points and 15 rebounds.
