(RV) Eagles Thrash Falcons 83-60

Fayette, Mo. - The Central Methodist University Eagles' men's basketball team; whom are currently receiving votes in the latest NAIA Men's Basketball Coaches' Top 25 Poll defeated the Friends University Falcons on Friday evening by a final of 83-60, in their final non-conference game on the regular season.

With the victory, the Eagles improve to 8-4 overall, while Friends University falls to 9-7 with the loss.

Central Methodist controlled Friday's game against Friends for all 40 minutes. The Eagles jumped out a 10-2 lead in the first three minutes and change. CMU would never look back. The Eagles played without their leading scorer; Ron Lee (SR/Oak Park, Calif.) on Friday. Everyone on the team would get into the game, with five players finishing in double-figure scoring.

In the first half, the Eagles shot and impressive 16-for-32 from the field, while holding Friends to 12-of-27 shooting from the field. CMU also outrebounded the Falcons 15-10 in the first half. At halftime, Central held a slim 37-35 lead, after Friends closed the half on a 10-2 scoring run in the final two minutes of play.

In the second half, Central Methodist would come out and dominate. CMU outscored Friends University 46-25, and shot 17-for-28 from the field. Central outrebounded the Falcons 21-9, and made all but one of their free-throws. In the end, the Eagles would close out the game with an impressive 83-60 victory.

Brian Egejuru (JR/Lawrenceville, Ga.) was one of five Eagles to score in double-figures on Friday evening. Egejuru led the team with 18 points on 8-of-14 shooting, along with seven rebounds, four assists, and two steals. Charles Harris III (SR/Antioch, Ill.) finished with 10 points and a team high eight rebounds.


The Eagles return to action this coming Wednesday, when they travel to Dubuque, Iowa to face Clarke University. The women will get things started at 5:30pm, with the men's game to follow at 7:30pm.
