CMU jumped out to an 11-2 lead in the first four minutes of the game, including five points from senior Lucas Dahl (Jefferson City, Mo.). The Runnin' Eagles continued to stretch that lead, extending it to as many as 15 points after a steal and basket by senior Daniel Pierre (Orlando, Fla.) with 11:12 remaining in the first half. A field goal by senior Clint Hamilton (Pflugerville, Texas) gave CMU a 31-22 lead heading into the halftime locker room. In the second half, the Runnin' Eagles maintained a steady lead. A three-pointer by William Woods made the score 44-33 with 9:34 left in the game, but CMU went on a 7-0 run over the next four minutes to open up an 18-point lead. A pair of free throws by Pierre gave CMU its largest lead of the game at 64-38, before the Owls scored the final four points of the game to make the final score 64-42.

The Runnin' Eagles shot 50 percent from the field in the game, while William Woods shot just 30.4 percent. CMU also finished with a 36-31 advantage in rebounding, and forced the Owls to commit 14 turnovers, including eight steals for Central Methodist.

Bredehoeft scored 20 points to lead Central Methodist, marking his third straight game with at least 20 points. He also had six rebounds and a game-high three steals. Dahl finished with 11 points and a game-high eight rebounds, while Hamilton added 10 points and six rebounds.

CMU improved to 4-2 with the win, while William Woods dropped to 0-6 on the season with the loss. The Runnin' Eagles will return to action this weekend when they travel to Leavenworth, Kan., to play in the HAAC/KCAC Classic. CMU is scheduled to play Ottawa University at 5 p.m. Friday, before taking on University of St. Mary at 3 p.m. Saturday.
