Olathe, Kan. - Trailing by a goal with less than 11 minutes remaining, the No. 1 Central Methodist men's soccer team completed a thrilling comeback to defeat No. 18 MidAmerica Nazarene 3-2 Tuesday afternoon in Olathe, Kan. 

With the win, Central keeps its perfect record intact at 9-0 and 6-0 in the confernece. The Pioneers fall to 8-3 and 5-1 in Heart play, suffering their first loss in conference action this season. 

The Eagles jumped out in front in just the third minute of play, as Stefano Campisi sent a high-ball into the box which found the head of Victor Luengo for his second goal of the season. MNU responded in the 19th minute of play to even the score at 1-1, breaking Central's streak of consecutive shut outs at eight. 

Both teams would enter the halftime break even at 1-1 and were scoreless through the opening 30 minutes of the second frame. 

At the 76 minute mark, a Central corner which was cleared by the MNU defense sprung a jail break to the other end of the field. The Pioneers used sharp passing to quickly move down to Central's half to score and take a 2-1 lead. 

The Eagles would not go quietly, as less than four minutes later a defensive break down by MNU in their defensive third gave Central possession near the top of the box. Marcos German sent a pass out wide to Alessandro Salvadego who then slipped the ball back to the middle, where German was waiting and tapped past the goalkeeper to even the score at 2-2. 

The game winner for Central came with less than four minutes remaining in the match, as Theo Klein tapped the ball in for his third goal of the season. 

Central finished the afternoon with 23 shots including 11 on goal. Despite holding MNU to only two shots for the entirity of the match, both shots were on goal and found the back of the net. 

Salvadego, Stefano Campisi and Klein led the offense with four shots apiece, including three on goal for Klein. German followed with three shots and one on goal. Both Salvadego and Campisi picked up an assist as well in the match. 

Stefano Camerlengo recorded his ninth win between the posts, playing all 90 minutes of the match. 

Central returns to action for a huge matchup against No. 7 Baker Saturday, Oct. 9 at 5:00 p.m. in Boonville, Mo.
