Fayette, Mo. - The Central Methodist Men's Soccer team concluded the regular season with a tough 2-1 loss to Baker University Wednesday night at Davis Field.
CMU drops to 8-5-5 and 5-4-4 in the Heart of America, while Baker improves to 11-4-2 and 8-3-1 in conference action.
The Wildcats jumped out front in the 27th minute to take a 1-0 lead, which would be the score at the halftime break. Baker added to its lead in the 54th minute when the Baker forward caught CMU off its line, leading to an over the top goal to put BU up 2-0.
Central continued to battle, cutting the lead in half when Robin Vandewalle scored his eighth goal of the year off the assist from Vincent Stegmiller and Giulian Medaglia in the 73rd minute.
CMU was unable to find the equalizer in the in the final 17 minutes, as Baker came away with the win.
CMU outshot the Wildcats for the duration of the match, 15-8, including 11 shot attempts in the second half.
Central will wait until the conclusion of the regular season Saturday to find out where they will be seeded in the Heart of America Conference Tournament.
The tournament is set to begin with the quarterfinals on Tuesday, Nov. 4 at campus sites from around the Heart.
