Four grapplers ranked individually in NAIA Women's Wrestling Coaches Top 20 poll

Kansas City, Mo. - Four members of the Central Methodist women's wrestling team are ranked in their individual weight classes in the fourth edition of the NAIA Women's Wrestling Coaches' Top 20 Poll.

As a team, the Eagles continue to receive votes for the fourth consecutive poll. Other members from the Heart mentioned or featured in the Top 20 include; No. 4 Grand View, No. 7 Baker, (RV) Missouri Valley, (RV) William Penn, and (RV) Waldorf.

From an individual standpoint, freshman Lillian Gough cracks the top 10 in the 136-pound weight class. Alexis Miller is No. 12 at 109 pounds followed by Abigail Jastal at 101. Sabrina King rounds out the four Central grapplers, as the St. Charles, Mo. native is No. 17 at the 123-pound weight class.

Central will next compete against Missouri Valley College Saturday, Jan. 28 at 6:00 p.m. in Marshall, Mo.

To view the poll methodology and the complete Top 20 poll, please see below.

Poll Methodology

  • The poll was voted upon by a panel of head coaches representing each of the five conferences.
  • Two days prior to the national poll, each qualifying group rater submits the top six individuals from each weight class in his conference into the system. Only wrestlers listed on a conference ballot are considered for the national ballot.
  • The top 20 individuals in each weight class is based on how each voter ranks the best individuals. An individual receives 20 points for each first place vote, 19 for second place and so on through the list. This same point system is used to determine the team ranking.
  • The postseason poll is determined using the individual and team results from the national championship
