Eagles Conclude Weekend in Alabama at Red Lady Open

Montgomery, Ala. - The No. 20 Central Methodist Women's Wrestling program concluded its weekend roadtrip of Alabama at the Red Lady Open Saturday in Montgomery, Alabama.

Freshman Toni Avelino finished third in the 110 weight class, posting a 2-1 record including an upset over No. 12 Reagan Thomas (Lindsey Wilson) by an 8-7 decision.

Victoria Nunez posted three consecutive wins at 117 pounds to place first. Like Avelino, Nunez also secured a ranked win over No. 16 Catherine Head of Lindsey Wilson by a 12-2 Tech Fall.

Corinne McClure earned a third place standing at 131 pounds, winning five of six matches, with three wins coming via Tech Fall and two on pins. Emily Neumann won the 138 pound bracket with a 3-0 record.

Central will next compete against Quincy University for a dual Friday, Jan. 10 at 6:00 p.m. in Quincy, Ill.
