Peru, Neb. – The Central Methodist Women's Basketball program closed out the 2025-26 regular season Saturday afternoon, falling to Peru State, 86-67, in Heart of America Athletic Conference action.
With the loss, the Eagles conclude the year at 15-13 overall and an even 10-10 in conference play.
The two teams traded baskets throughout a competitive first quarter, with Central holding a narrow one-point edge heading into the second.
The Eagles continued to battle in the second frame, but Peru State used a late surge to take a 39-30 advantage into halftime.
Coming out of the locker room, CMU delivered its strongest offensive stretch of the afternoon. The Eagles poured in 25 third-quarter points, nearly matching the Bobcats' 26.
Despite the push, Central was unable to overcome the early deficit, as Peru State came away with a 19-point victory.
Junior transfer Maizen Williams paced the Eagles with a season-high 24 points while adding five rebounds.
Graduate forward Kaitlyn Patke followed with 18 points, seven boards, and two steals.
Kaelyn Johnson and Trishelle Porter each contributed five points, while Tayla Robinson, Asnate Gerke, and Mary Copeland chipped in four apiece.
Both squads were even on the glass, but shooting efficiency proved to be the difference. Central shot 40.6 percent from the field, while Peru State connected at an impressive 57.1 percent clip.
CMU will wait to see if they have qualified for the Heart postseason tournament, which will be known when all conference games from the weekend have been completed.
