Atchison, Kan. - The Central Methodist Women's Basketball team traveled to Atchison, Kansas, to take on Benedictine College Saturday afternoon.
The Eagles fell to the Ravens 65-58, snapping their six-game win streak. Central now stands at 14-7 and 9-4 in the Heart of America. The Ravens are now 16-5 and 12-1 in conference action.
CMU kept the game tight throughout, matching the Ravens with 14 points in the second quarter to head into halftime trailing 32-28.
The Eagles stayed within striking distance in the second half, outscoring Benedictine 15-13 in the third quarter, but a 20-point fourth quarter by the Ravens proved to be the difference as Central Methodist was unable to close the gap down the stretch.
Freshman Tayla Robinson led Central in scoring with 11 points, while also adding five rebounds
Maizen Williams recorded 10 points, three rebounds, and three assists on the day. Mary Copeland matched with 10 points, while also adding six rebounds off the bench.
Asnate Gerke nearly recorded a double-double with 10 rebounds and eight points. She also added five steals and four assists.
Benedictine won the battle of the boards, outrebounding Central 40-35. The Ravens knocked down 10 three-point baskets compared to just five for Central.
The Eagles will travel to Marshall, Missouri on Wednesday, Feb. 4 to take on Missouri Valley at 5:30 p.m.
