Fayette, Mo. - The Central Methodist Women's Basketball program fell to Missouri Baptist 50-49 Wednesday evening in the final home game of the 2025-26 season.
With the loss, CMU falls to 15-12 and 10-9 in the Heart of America, while Missouri Baptist improves to 12-13 and 11-8 in conference play.
The Eagles came out firing, knocking down back-to-back three-pointers to open the contest and setting the tone early.
Central outscored the Spartans 17-12 in the first quarter and carried that momentum into the second, taking a six-point advantage into halftime.
Both teams battled evenly throughout the second half. Missouri Baptist pulled even at 45-45 with 4:51 remaining.
The teams traded baskets down the stretch, and Central held a one-point edge in the closing seconds, but the Spartans scored with just eight seconds left to secure the narrow victory.
Tayla Robinson and Maizen Williams both led the Eagles' offense with 12 points. Robinson added six rebounds and two steals, while Williams added two rebounds, two assists, and two steals.
Graduate Kaitlyn Patke followed with nine points and seven rebounds. Kaelyn Johnson matched Patke with seven boards while also chipping in six points.
Rebounding proved pivotal, as the Spartans held a 46-32 advantage on the glass.
The Eagles will close out the 2025-26 campaign on Saturday Feb. 21 in Peru, Neb. as they take on the Peru State Bobcats at 2:00 p.m.
