Fulton, Mo. – The Central Methodist Women's Basketball team extended its winning streak to six games with a dominant 78-43 victory over William Woods on Wednesday night.
With the win, Central improves to 14-7 overall and 9-4 in Heart of America play, while the Owls fall to 2-17 and 2-12 in conference action.
The Eagles set the tone early, holding William Woods to just six points in the first quarter. The second period was more competitive, but Central still carried a double-digit lead into halftime.
CMU took full control after the break, outscoring the Owls 44-26 in the second half to pull away for the decisive win.
Junior transfer Maizen Williams led all scorers with 23 points, shooting an efficient 10-of-16 from the field for her season-high performance. Senior Mary Copeland followed with 15 points on six-of-eight shooting, while also contributing four rebounds and three steals.
Freshman Alina Riley added nine points, knocking down three of four shots from beyond the arc, while Tayla Robinson and Elli Teubert chipped in seven points apiece.
Robinson led the Eagles on the glass with eight rebounds, and Asnate Gerke and Kaelyn Johnson each grabbed seven.
As a team, Central shot 48.5 percent from the field and held a 45-34 rebounding advantage. The Eagles were active defensively, forcing 20 turnovers and recording 17 steals, which helped fuel their second-half surge.
CMU also limited the Owls to just 25 percent shooting from the field and 15 percent from three-point range.
The Eagles remain on the road this weekend as they travel to Atchison, Kansas, to face Benedictine on Jan. 31 at 2:00 p.m.
