Eagles Pick Up First Conference Win over William Penn

Fayette, Mo. – The Central Methodist Women's Basketball team secured its first conference win of the 2025-26 campaign with a 73-65 victory over William Penn Wednesday evening inside Puckett Field House.

With the win, the Eagles move to 4-3 overall and 1-1 in Heart of America action, while the Statesmen fall to 2-7 and 0-2 in conference play.

The opening quarter was tightly contested, ending in a 15-15 tie. Central found its rhythm in the second period, erupting for 25 points to take a 40-32 lead into halftime.

Despite William Penn outscoring the Eagles 20-13 in the final frame, Central maintained control to close out the win.

Sophomore Nautica Washington powered the offense with a game-high 24 points, adding six rebounds and two steals.

Kaitlyn Patke followed with 16 points and a game-best eight boards, while Asnate Gerke stuffed the stat sheet with 12 points, seven steals, six rebounds, and five assists.

Senior Elli Teubert contributed five rebounds in 14 strong minutes off the bench, while Kaelyn Johnson and Tayla Robinson each tallied four boards.

CMU outrebounded William Penn by double digits, 42-32.

Central returns to action on Saturday, Nov. 22, traveling to Parkville, Missouri to face Park University at 12:00 p.m.
