Fayette, Mo. - The Central Methodist Women's basketball team dropped a Saturday afternoon contest to (RV) Grand View University Saturday afternoon inside Puckett Field House.
Central now stands at 7-12 and 4-11 in the Heart of America, while Grand View improves to 13-5 and 11-3 in conference action.
The Eagles' got off to a promising start in the opening quarter, trailing just 19-16 at the end of the fromt.
The Vikings, however, took control in the second, outscoring Central 18-6.
CMU entered the halftime break 37-22. Grand View continued to carry their momentum into the third quarter, outsourcing the Eagles 22-12.
Despte Central scoring 16 points in the final frame compared to Grand View's 11, CMU fell short of an upset victory over the nationally ranked Vikings.
Sharay Trotter was a key part of Central's hot start early in the game, finishing the day with a game-high 22 points in 37 minutes played.
Tristan Porter and Sa'Mya Stevens both tallied eight points, while Porter recorded six rebounds and Stevens three.
Kaelyn Johnson led the Eagles with seven boards.
Central struggled offensively converting on just 32 percent of their shots and knocking down two three-point baskets.
CMU will next travel to Atchison, Kansas, Wednesday, Jan. 18 to take on Benedictine College at 5:30 p.m.
