Olathe, Kan. - The Central Methodist Women's basketball team suffered a tough 89-52 road loss to MidAmerica Nazarene University Wednesday night in Olathe, Kansas.
With the defeat, CMU now stands at 7-11 and 4-10 in the Heart. MNU improves to 16-2 and remain a perfect 14-0 in conference play.
The first-place Pioneers controlled the game from the opening tip, outscoring the Eagles 22-4 in the opening quarter followed by a 26-12 performance in the second. MNU held a 48-16 lead at the half.
Central found an offensive spark after the break, putting up 17 points in the third quarter. Kaelyn Johnson was a key part of that success, as the sophomore scored a team leading 12 points while adding seven rebounds in 25 minutes of action.
The Eagles produced their best quarter in the fourth, scoring 19 points.
Sa'Mya Stevens and Kayhla Adams both contributed eight points a piece while Stevens added two rebounds to her stat line.
Central knocked down seven-of-20 attempts from beyond the arc.
The Pioneers' defense frustrated Central, forcing 18 turnovers on 13 steals. MNU shot 54 percent from the floor and assisted on 22 of their 34 field goal makes.
CMU will return home to take on the Grand View Vikings Saturday, Jan. 18 at 2:00 p.m. inside Puckett Field House.
