Fayette, Mo. - The No. 2 Central Methodist Women's Basketball team earned a decisive 82-39 victory over Park University Wednesday night in Parkville, Mo.
The Eagles remain undefeated at 27-0 and 21-0 in the Heart. Park falls to 5-21 and 3-18 in conference action.
Central came out firing on all cylinders, outscoring the Pirates 25-2 in the first quarter. CMU continued to roll in the second quarter to take a 50-13 lead into the halftime break.
Central outscored the Pirates 18-9 in the third and cruised in the fourth quarter to earn a 43 point victory.
Reigning Heart Player of the Week Leah Johnson led Central's offense with 17 points. She also grabbed seven rebounds, recorded two blocks, and dished out two assists.
Daryna Bachkarova followed with 15 points in addition to four rebounds, four assists, four steals, and a block.
Robin Beck added 12 points in just 17 minutes off the bench. The senior also knocked down two three-point baskets.
Leianya Massenat nearly recorded a double-double with 11 points and a team leading eight rebounds. She also added three steals and three assists.
Jaicia Canady rounded out the double-digit scorers with 10 points. Canady stuffed the stat sheet with seven rebounds, seven assists, and three steals.
Central's defense held Park to just 26.2 percent shooting from the floor and forced 23 turnovers on 16 steals. The Eagles held Park to just one three-point make on the evening and outrebounded the Pirates 50-35.
The Eagles will look to complete their first undefeated regular season in program history against William Penn Saturday, Feb. 28 at 2:00 p.m. inside Puckett Field House. The program will honor its 2022-23 senior class prior to tip-ff.
