Kansas City, Mo. - For the second time this season, senior guard Daryna Bachkarova was named the Heart of America Athletic Conference Women's Basketball Player of the Week by the conference office Monday.
The native of Minsk, Belarus led the Eagles to two victories this past week, which included 35-plus point wins over both Benedictine College and Missouri Valley.
Bachkarova scored 27 points against Missouri Valley and eclipsed 1,000 career points in the victory. She joined teammate Leianya Massenat, who reached the 1,000-point mark against Benedictine College last Wednesday.
For the week, Bachkarova averaged 23.5 points/game and shot a stifling, 65.4 percent from the floor on 17-of-26 shooting.
She also shot 61.1 percent from three-point range on 11-of-18.
The No. 2 Eagles now stand at 21-0 and 15-0 in the Heart of America Athletic Conference. In addition, they are the lone undefeated team remaining in the Top 25 national rankings.
Central next heads out on the road for a two-game road swing, beginning with Grand View University Wednesday, Feb. 1 at 5:30 p.m. in Des Moines, Iowa.
