Fayette, Mo. - For the second-straight game, a member of the Central Methodist Women's Basketball team hit 1,000 career points.
Daryna Bachkarova, a senior guard from Minsk, Belarus notched her 1,000th career point on a fast break layup in the third quarter against Missouri Valley College Saturday afternoon in Puckett Field House.
She becomes the second Eagle in as many games to reach 1,000 career points this season, as teammate Leianya Massenat tallied her 1,000th point against Benedictine College Wednesday night.
The Eagles came away with a convincing 83-48 victory over MVC, pushing their undefeated record to 21-0 and 15-0 in the Heart. Central now stands as the lone undefeated in the Top 25 with today's win.
Missouri Valley falls to 12-10 and 8-8 in conference action.
Bachkarova led Central with 27 points on 11-of-14 shooting from the floor incuding five three-point baskets. She also added five assists, four steals, and four rebounds.
Zutorya Cook finished the afternoon with 14 points, six rebounds, four steals, and an assist in 31 minutes of action. Leianya Massenat added 12 points, followed by Jaicia Canady with 10.
Canady also added eight assists, three rebounds, and three steals. Leah Johnson recorded nine points and grabbed a game-high 12 rebounds.
Along with a strong shooting night, Central's defense was stingy, forcing 22 Vikings' turnovers on 15 steals. The Eagles also held Missouri Valley to just 29.1-percent shooting from the floor and 18.2-percent from three.
CMU won the battle of the boards, grabbing 45 rebounds compared to 38 for the Vikings.
The Eagles head back out on the road for a two-game road swing beginning with Grand View University Wednesday, Feb. 1 at 5:30 p.m. in Des Moines, Iowa.
