Springfield, Mo. - The No. 13 Central Methodist women's basketball team knocked off Heart South Divison foe Evangel University 82-67 Wednesday night in Springfield, Mo.
With the win, Central improves to 22-4 and 12-4 in Heart play, while the Valor falls to 14-12 and 10-6 in the conference. CMU currently sits atop the South Division standings with MidAmerica Nazarene.
The Eagles finished the first half on a 10-0 scoring run to take a 40-31 lead into the locker room at the halftime break. The offense continued to roll into the second, ultimately taking claiming a 15-point victory over Evangel.
Senior guard Arleighshya McElroy led the offense with 29 points on 12-of-19 shooting from the field including four three-point baskets. It marks the seniors third-straight game with 20-plus point and her 10th overall this season.
Daryna Bachkarova joined McElroy with 18 points and matched her with four three-pointers in 37 minutes of action. Robin Beck was the final Eagle to reach double figures with 10 points in 14 minutes off the bench.
Eternati Willock led the attack on the boards with a game-high 13 rebounds and five blocks. Overall, the Eagles outrebounded Evangel on the glass 47-36. Central finished the evening shooting over 47-percent from the floor while holding the Valor to just 32-percent.
The Eagles return home to host Park University Saturday, Feb. 12 at 2:00 p.m. in Puckett Field House.
