Short handed Eagles pick up road victory at Baker

Baldwin City, Kan. - The No. 14 Central Methodist Women's Basketball program picked up its fourth consecutive win Wednesday night, defeating Heart foe Baker University 70-52 in Baldwin City, Kan. 

With the victory, Central improves to 13-3 and an even 3-3 record in conference play. The Wildcats fall to 6-9 and 2-4 in the Heart. 

CMU opened the game with a 20-13 advantage over Baker at the end of the first quarter. Baker stayed even with the Eagles in the next two quarters, before Central outscored BU 17-9 in the final frame to earn an 18-point victory. 

Leah Johnson led the Eagles' offense with 15 point in 24 minutes of action. Kedranea' Addison played in every minute for CMU, scoring 14 points and recorded a game-high six assists, along with five rebounds and three steals. 

Sophomore guard Jaicia Canady also played every minute, and was the only other Eagle to reach double-figures with 11 points, seven rebounds, four assists, two steals, and two blocks. 

The duo of Eternati Willock and Robin Beck each tallied nine points, while Willock match Canady with seven boards. 

Despite shooting only 42.3-percent from the free throw line, Central converted on 50.9-percent of its shots on the floor. Baker finished the evening shooting only 32.3-percent. 

As a team, the Eagles forced 17 Wildcat turnovers, scoring 23 points off Baker miscues. Central was also extremly efficient down in the post, tallying 40 of its 70 points in the paint. 

CMU returns home to host Culver-Stockton College Saturday, Jan. 8 at 2:00 p.m. inside Puckett Field House.

Saturday's basketball doubleheader is also Howard County Family and Friends Day, in which all residents of Howard County will receive free admission.
