St. Louis, Mo. - The No. 17 Central Methodist women's basketball program used a 28-point third quarter to defeat Missouri Baptist, 77-50, Tuesday night in St. Louis.
The Eagles keep their perfect record intact at 4-0, while the Spartans fall to 2-5.
Leading by only three-points at halftime, Central outscored MBU 28-11 in the third and 17-10 in the fourth to earn the 27-point victory.
CMU was led offensively by Daryna Bachkarova, who poured in 18 points on 66-percent shooting from the floor including two three-point baskets. She also pulled down 11 rebounds to earn her first double-double of the year.
Leianya Massenat stuffed the stat sheet with 16 points, eight rebounds, five assists and three steals. She also converted on eight-of-her nine free throw attempts, good enough for an 88.9 shooting percentage.
Arleighshya McElroy tallied 14 points in 38 minutes of action. The senior grabbed eight rebounds, dished our five assists, and recorded four steals. Leah Johnson was the final Eagle to land in double figures with 10 points. She joined three of her teammates in the starting lineup with eight rebounds.
Kedranea' Addison finished the evening with eight points on four-of-six shooting from the floor. Overall, CMU shot 44.8-percent from the field and and 76.5-percent from the charity stripe. Four of Central's five starters scored in double figures and grabbed at least eight rebounds.
CMU won the battle of the boards by nearly 20 boards, as the Eagles grabbed 52 compared to the Spartans 33.
Central continues non-conference action with a matchup against Rust College as part of the Lyon Class Friday, Nov. 19 at 4:00 p.m. in Batesville, Ark.
