Bachkarova earns First Heart Player of the Week honors

Kansas City, Mo. – For the second time in 2020-21, the Central Methodist women's basketball team had a member of the program earn Heart Player of the Week honors, announced by the conference office Monday afternoon. Junior guard Daryna Bachkarova received the award after being a key player in all three of the Eagles' wins this past week.

The Minsk, Belarus native, led all scorers in the upset win over No. 8 Clarke with 24 points. She also recorded four rebounds, three assists, one block, and one steal. Against Mount Mercy, she once again led all players with a season-high 26 points, along with eight rebounds, five assists, five steals, and one block.

Bachkarova collected her first double-double of the season in the win against Culver-Stockton, finishing the afternoon with 12 points and 11 rebounds. Overall, she averaged 20 points and 7.6 rebounds/games, knocked down a season-high seven three-point baskets vs. Mount Mercy, and finished the week converting on 43.3-percent of her three-point attempts.

With the three wins this past week, the Eagles maintain a third-place standing in the Heart South Division and fifth place in the overall standings.

The Eagles will be back in action Saturday, Feb. 13 at 2:00 p.m. in Puckett Fieldhouse against Graceland University for senior day.
