Fayette, Mo. - For the first time this season, CMU women's basketball has an athlete earn Heart Player of the Week honors. Frehsman guard Leianya Massenat put on two impressive performances against Baker and (RV) Grand View to receive the award.
The New Jersey native played a key role in the Eagles' two wins against the Wildcats and Vikings. Against Baker, Massenat dropped 25 points, four rebounds and three assists in Central's double-digit win. In a road matchup at Grand View, she earned a double-double with 26 points and with 11 rebounds, of which 22 of her points came in the first half.
The pair of wins have lifted the Eagles to third place in the Heart South Standings. Massenat averaged 25 points and 7.5 rebounds in each of Central's two games last week, and she has also scored 20+ points in five straight games, four of which have led to Eagle wins.
The Eagles will be back in action on Wednesday, February 3 at 5:30 p.m. against No. 8 Clarke University in Puckett Fieldhouse.
