KANSAS CITY, Mo. – After several days of anxious waiting, the Central Methodist University women's basketball team and their supporters will find out their fate tonight (Wednesday) when the National Association of Intercollegiate Athletics (NAIA) releases the 32 teams which will advance to the 37th Annual Division I Women's Basketball National Championship, presented by Wells Fargo.
The selection show and bracket announcement will be streamed live on the NAIA's YouTube channel. Anyone wanting to watch the show can by CLICKING HERE at 7 p.m. At approximately 6:55 p.m. a video link will appear on the NAIA YouTube page.
The CMU Lady Eagles are currently 23-9 on the season and received a No. 21 ranking in the Feb. 28 ranking. The final NAIA Division I Women's Basketball Coaches' Poll before the tournament will come out later today. The Lady Eagles received the No. 3-seed in the Heart of America Athletic Conference Postseason Tournament, along with a first-round bye. CMU knocked off No. 6-seed Clarke University, 89-84, in the quarterfinal round at home, before falling to then-No. 13-ranked Benedictine College, 61-46, in Atchison, Kansas.
CMU finished conference play with an 18-8 conference record, earning the No. 3 seed, while finishing behind Baker University and Benedictine.
The NAIA Division I Women's Basketball National Championship will be held March 15-21 in Rimrock Auto Arena at MetraPark, Billings, Montana.
There will be eight first round games on March 15 and 16, followed by eight second=round games on March 17. The quarterfinals will be played on March 18, followed by the semifinals on March 20 and the championship contest on March 21.
