FAYETTE, Mo. - Central Methodist suffered a 64-51 loss to No. 23 Benedictine (Kan.) on Saturday in Heart of America Athletic Conference action.
Chayla Rutledge scored 19 points and grabbed four rebounds to lead Benedictine (18-6, 11-1). Rutledge returned to the lineup after missing the last two games to help the Ravens maintain their share of first place in the conference standings. Jayde Reid added 12 points, six rebounds and three steals for the Ravens, who shot 38.2 percent from the field and held central Methodist (11-10, 3-9 HAAC) to an 18-of-58 shooting mark (.310).
Holding a 21-20 advantage with 3:23 before half, the Ravens scored the final eight points before intermission and led by as much as 21 points in the second half.
Chelsea Pannier hit a trio of three-point shots to finish with nine points and four rebounds, while Taylor Cornelison pulled down a game-high eight boards. Jesse Ellis and Taylor McDowell each scored six points. Ellis also had five rebounds and three steals.
Central Methodist hosts Crowley's Ridge (Ark.), a NCCAA school, on Tuesday, Feb. 10, at 7 p.m. CT.
