Parkville, Mo. - The Central Methodist Men's Golf program battled windy conditions to finish second at the Park University Spring Classic this week in Parkville, Mo.
The event featured 87 golfers from 15 different programs, including seven Heart institutions.
The Eagles finished the two-day tournament with a team score of 585, overcoming 45 MPH winds on Tuesday to improve their round two score from day one. It marks Central's sixth top-two finish this year.
Central finished second behind tournament champion Kirkwood Community College who shot a two-round total of 573. Missouri Valley College rounded out the top-three placers at the Classic, shooting a final score of 588.
Senior Matias Baccola and Chad Coburn each tied for second with individual two-round scores of 141. Luke Truter shot identical rounds of 76 to tie for 24th, and Gaite Brauns shot a two-round total of 155.
Tiago Swart rounded out Central's top five, finishing just behind Brauns with a score of 156.
The Eagles will next compete in the Missouri Valley Spring Invitational beginning Monday, April 10 in Marshall, Mo.
