Boonville, Mo. — The Central Methodist men's golf program hosted the annual CMU Spring Invitational Monday and Tuesday at Hail Ridge Golf Course, competing against a deep field that featured multiple nationally ranked teams and strong regional competition.
CMU fielded three teams in the two-day event, highlighted by a strong second-round push from the Eagles' top squad.
Central Methodist's A team finished eighth overall with a two-round total of 613 (315-298), shaving 17 strokes off its opening round to climb one spot on the leaderboard.
The Eagles' B team placed 10th at 626 (326-300), also making a significant improvement on day two with a 26-stroke swing. The C team rounded out the field in 11th with a score of 738 (385-353), showing a 32-stroke improvement between rounds.
William Woods claimed the team title with its A squad, posting a 563 while its B team finished second at 575. Lincoln University and Missouri Baptist University tied for third at 584.
Leading the way for the Eagles was sophomore Zane Downey, who tied for 29th with a 150 (78-72), posting one of the best rounds of the tournament for CMU with a two-under-par 72 on Tuesday.
Competing for the B team, Rocco Amoia delivered the top overall finish among CMU golfers, tying for 19th at 147 (73-74).
Cylas Worley finished tied for 32nd at 151 (79-72), matching Downey with a strong second-round 72. Atticus Brandes added a tie for 36th at 153 (78-75), while Brayden Loftin rounded out the A team scorers with a 159 (80-79), placing tied for 51st.
From the B team, Brock Jenkins (159), Keenan James (160), and Peyton Taylor (162) each showed marked improvement in round two, while Evan Fleetwood carded a 172.
The C team was led by Travis Allen and Alvin Brämhagen, who both tied for 60th at 177, followed by Noah Caldwell (184) and Sterling Sederwall (200).
Central will next compete in the William Woods Spring Invitational beginning Monday, March 30 at Tanglewood Golf Course in Fulton, Missouri.
