Fulton, Mo. - The Central Methodist men's and women's golf programs competed in their final fall meet of 2021, as both squads posted second-place finishes at the William Woods Fall Invitational Monday and Tuesday in Fulton, Mo.
Reigning Heart Women's Golfer of the Week Cassandra Contreras once again led the women's side with a second-place individual finish with rounds of 75 and 72. Teammates Sarah Kenowicz and Logan Allen also landed in the Top 10 with two-round totals of 160 and 165 respectively.
Riley Burns nearly cracked the Top 10, finishing two strokes back of Allen at 167, good enough to tie for 11th. Alea Andrade rounded out CMU's top five golfers.
On the men's side, Tomas Lopez Mazzalay placed fifth with rounds of 77 and 70, followed by Matias Baccola with a total score of 150, good enough to tie for eighth place. Aaron Teece matched Baccola with a final tally of 150. Tiago Swart and Nzelu Maitha both tied for tenth, shooting two-round totals of 151.
The CMU women finish the fall season, placing third or better in five of six tournaments, including three first-place finishes. The men also played well in 2021, finishing third or better at three tournaments, highlighted by a first-place finish at the CMU Fall Invitational on Sept. 13.
