Kansas City, Mo. - The Eagles' golf duo of Matias Baccola and Cassandra Contreras swept the Heart Weekly awards for the second time this spring season, as each earned Heart Conference Golfer of the Week honors Monday.
This marks the third honor for Contreras this year, as she also won the award on March 17 and Sept 23. The freshman competed at the Missouri Valley Invite back on March 15-16, tying for first place with a two-day total of 158. She ultimately fell to Haleigh Berrey of Columbia College (Mo.) in the play off, finishing second overall.
Baccola is now a two-time Heart Golfer of the Week award winner. The La Falda, Argentina native also competed at the Missouri Valley Invite, where he finished tied for third place with a two-day total of 214, one stroke shy of second. He was the highest finisher of any golfer from the Heart at the event.
The CMU golf team will be back on the course for the William Woods Spring Invite on March 29-30 at the Tanglewood GC in Fulton, Missouri.
