Quincy, Ill. - The Central Methodist University men's' golf team posted a fourth-place finish out of eight teams at the Quincy Country Club Shootout Monday afternoon in Quincy, Ill.
The one-day tournament was hosted by fellow Heart member Culver-Stockon College and featured Columbia College, Quincy University, and Hannibal-LaGrange. As a team, the Eagles scored 648, just five strokes back from third place.
Junior Matias Baccola followed up his Top-6 finish at the Missouri Valley Invitational with another solid outing on the greens. The La Falda, Argentina native fired rounds of 77 and 71 for a two-round total of 148, tying him for 2nd out of 43 golfers and putting him just two strokes back from the top spot.
Trace Brown shot a two-round total of 160, good enough to earn a Top-15 place. Rounding out the Eagles included Aaron Teece (24th-160), Nzelu Maitha (T27-168), and Ori Barlett (T31-174).
The reserve men finished the day with an overall score of 679. Both Zach Maggart and Alexander Blase fired scores of 172, while Marcel Alexander Lemmer and Owen Stubblefield were close behind with 174.
Columbia College took home the team title at 596. Columbia College's Noah Wilson won the individual championship with a two-round score of 146.
The Eagles will return to action when they participate in the Fall Preview on Oct. 5-6 in Raymore, Mo.
