Kansas City, Mo. - Central Methodist Senior linebacker Davion Stockard was tabbed as an AFCA-NAIA Honorable Mention All-American by the American Football Coaches Association Thursday morning.
The AFCA has selected an All-America team since 1945 and currently selects teams in all five of its divisions. What makes these teams so special is that they are the only ones chosen exclusively by the men who know the players the best — the coaches themselves.
Stockard becomes the sixth All-American in the last five seasons to represent the Eagles on the national stage, joining Katavious Taylor (2018-2021) and Will Miles (2021).
The Heart First Team All-Conference selection appeared and started all 11 games at middle linebacker and served as a Team Captain in 2022. He led the team and the Heart with 117 total tackles, averaging more than 10 tackles/game.
Stockard forced six fumbles in 2022 which led the nation, returning one for a touchdown against Culver-Stockton on Sept. 24. He also recorded three sacks and broke up six passes.
For his efforts against MidAmerica Nazarene on Homecoming weekend, Stockard was named the Heart Defensive Player of the Week after recording a game-high 17 tackles, a forced fumble, and three pass breakups.
