CMU Falls to Baker in Baldwin City

Baldwin City, Kan. - The Central Methodist Football program fell to fellow Heart South Division foe Baker University 28-0 Saturday afternoon in Baldwin City, Kan. 

Central falls to 1-9 and 1-3 in Heart South Division play, while the Wildcats improve to 4-6 and 1-3 in conference action. 

After a scoreless first quarter, Baker jumped on the scoreboard with a pair of rushing touchdowns in the second. Leading the Eagles 14-0 at halftime, BU stretched its lead to 28 points, first on a pick-six from the Wildcat defense at the 14:04 mark of the third quarter. 

The final score of the game came on a 12-yard touchdown pass to seal the 28-0 victory for the Wildcats. 

Central's defense finished the afternoon with three forced turnovers, all being interceptions. Joseph Slattery, Anthony Johnson, and Lontas Mcclinton each picked up an interception for the defense. 

Mcclinton led CMU with 18 total tackles, including a tackle for loss, a half sack, and one pass breakup. Davion Stockard added 13 tackles while Mujahid Camel picked up seven. 

Chase Rankin led the receiving core with four catches for 53 yards followed by AJ Allen with three receptions for 36 yards. On special teams, Erik Mays recorded four kick off returns for a total of 63 yards, including a long of 23. 

Central will conclude the 2022 season as they host the Evangel Valor Saturday, Nov. 12 at 1:00 p.m. at Davis Field on Senior Day.
