Kansas City, Mo. - For the first time in his career, Central Methodist senior linebacker Davion Stockard was named the Heart Football Defensive Player of the Week, announced by the conference office Monday.
The native of St. Louis Mo., recorded a game-high 17 tackles, including 11 solo against MidAmerica Nazarene this past Saturday.
In addition, he forced a fumble in the second quarter that led to an Eagles' scoring drive as well as three pass breakups.
Stockard currently leads the team in total tackles (76), tackles/game (10.9), and forced fumbles (five). He is ranked No. 1 in the country in forced fumbles and No. 2 in total tackles.
Stockard and the Eagles will travel to Atchison, Kan. to take on Benedictine College Saturday, Oct. 15 at 1:00 p.m.
