Fayette, Mo. - The Central Methodist football program fell to Culver-Stockton College by a final score of 26-7 Saturday afternoon at Davis Field.
Central falls to 0-5, while Culver-Stockton improves to 2-3.
The Eagles would take the first lead of the game via a defensive takeaway midway through the first quarter. Following a completion by Culver-Stockton near their own 20-yard line, senior linebacker Davion Stockard stripped the ball out of the receivers hands and returned it all the way for a touchdown. The touchdown gave CMU a 7-0 lead at the 8:57 mark of the first quarter.
CS-C would respond on the ensuiing possession via a 50-yard field goal to cut the lead to 7-3. The Wildcats padded their lead in the second quarter, blocking a Central punt and returning it 23 yards for a CS-C touchdown.
CMU would trail Culver-Stockton 10-7 at the halftime break, and the Wildcats would score a field goal in the third, and a touchdown in each of the third and fourth quarters to come away with the 19-point victory.
The Wildcats controlled time of possession, maintaining 36:07 of possession compared to 23:53 for Central. In addition, CS-C racked up 431 total yards of offense.
Despite the yardage given up, Central's defense forced five turnovers, including two interceptions and three fumbles. Erik Mays and KeShawn Wilson each picked up an interception, while Stockard forced two fumbles in addition to a forced fumble by Daniel Miles.
Lontas Mcclintion led the defense with 10 tackles, while Stockard added seven and Mujahid Camel six. Camel also recovered a fumble and broke up two passes.
Central heads back out on the road for its final Heart North Division matchup of the season, playing William Penn Saturday, Oct. 1 at 2:30 p.m. in Oskaloosa, Iowa.
