Kansas City, Mo. - Central Methodist University senior linebacker Mar'Quess Daniels was tabbed as this week's Heart Football Defensive Player of the Week, announced by the conference office Monday afternoon.
The Trumbull, Conn. native's play was a crucial piece of Central's 27-24 victory over Peru State this past Saturday. Daniels collected eight tackles including seven solo, with two for losses.
He also recorded a pair of sacks and an 52-yard interception return for a touchdown late in the fourth quarter to seal the win for the Eagles.
Overall, the Central defense forced three Bobcat turnovers and held them to a 29-percent third down conversion rate.
The Eagles head on the road for another cross division matchup against Clarke University Saturday, Sept. 11 at 1:00 p.m. in Dubuque, Iowa.
