Fayette, Mo. - The Central Methodist University football team fell in a defensive battle vs. Benedictine College, 16-0, Saturday afternoon at Davis Field. 

The Eagles fall to 3-3 overall and 1-1 in Heart South Division play. Benedictine improves to 5-1 and 2-0 in the division. 

The Ravens' got their running attack going early in the first quarter, opening the game with an eight-play 55-yard drive that was capped by a 10-yard rushing touchdown. Benedictine extended their lead to 14-0 on an eight-yard touchdown pass, with 3:01 remaining in the first quarter. The only other score of the game came on a safety with 4:28 left in the fourth quarter. 

The Eagles defense forced three fumbles, one courtesy of Brandon Molinari, while the other two were misplayed handoffs by the Ravens' offense. Brice Walker and Colton Skyles each collected a fumble recovery. 

Mar'quess Daniels led the defense with 12 tackles, followed by Khari Henley and Jory Maddox, who each recorded 11 and 10 respectively. Senior defensive lineman Will Miles also added eight tackles including three for loss and a sack. 

Sophomore defensive back Carelle Hill led the special teams unit, returning five punts for 73 total yards including a long of 21.

The Eagles head back out on the road for a matchup against Baker University Saturday, Oct. 31 at 1:00 p.m. in Baldwin City, Kan.
